SAM BURMAN is an Energy Intelligence Senior Research Analyst. Key focus areas of Energy Intelligence Research include the energy transition, corporate strategy and competitor intelligence, oil and gas/LNG markets, and aboveground risk.

Based in London, Mr Burman primarily supports Energy Transition Research, conducting analysis of emerging and maturing clean energy technologies, and related market developments, while also providing analysis of how oil and gas companies are responding to climate-related risks. He also contributes to analysis of wider global industry trends as well as bespoke advisory projects on evolving corporate strategy, aboveground country risk and geopolitical developments.

Prior to joining Energy Intelligence, Mr Burman was a Senior Commodities Analyst for Fitch Solutions, where he worked on a range of research including commodity price strategy, the consumption and production outlook of first-generation biofuels as well as the potential impact of environmental policy on commodities production. He has also worked in the commodities team at Capital Economics, a macroeconomic research consultancy, conducting forward-looking analysis of energy and agricultural commodity markets.

Mr Burman holds an MSc in Economics from the University of St Andrews, and a BSc in Mathematical Economics and Statistics from the University of Birmingham.
