Market Watch

October gas futures took a 79¢ dive to $8.324 per million Btu Thursday as the contract gave back almost all of Wednesday's gains as the threat of a railroad workers strike receded. Bulls pushed October futures up 83¢ to $9.114/MMBtu Wednesday as the strike could have curtailed coal shipments and increased the call on gas-fired generation. The 12-month strip fell 43.9¢ to $6.986; the 2023 calendar strip was down 26.7¢ to $6.386 (Futures contracts).

WTI October crude fell $3.38 to $85.10/bbl.
