TC Energy, looking to expand natural gas capacity in Virginia, has filed a formal application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for approval of the Virginia Reliability Project. The project involves replacing 49 miles of existing 12-inch diameter pipeline with 24-inch diameter pipeline and adding technology that will enhance reliability and energy efficiency along the Columbia Gas Transmission system. These updates include a new hybrid electric compressor unit at the Emporia Compressor station that will limit emissions.
