French major TotalEnergies said Wednesday that it plans to take a final investment decision (FID) next year on a $9 billion oil project in the prolific Block 58 off Suriname.

The move will revert ownership of the block to small independents Ratio Guyana and Cataleya Energy, with Ratio expected to take over operatorship.
