Golar LNG announced a heads of agreement this month to develop a floating LNG project with state Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. (NNPC) and revealed talks with four private gas producers for similar projects offshore Nigeria. The agreement sets out a “commercial framework for the development of identified gas resources in Nigeria” after a memorandum of understanding with NNPC signed in April had “unlocked” the state company’s gas reserves, Golar’s CEO Karl Staubo told analysts during Golar’s second-quarter results on Aug. 10.
