China’s Sinopec, as it delves into geothermal energy in the north of China, is optimistic about the sector's growth. The company predicts in a recent that the annual growth rate of domestic geothermal energy heating during China's five-year plan covering 2021-25 will be about 7%-10%, according to remarks made from a company official in a press conference. Sinopec also says that by the end of 2025, installed geothermal power generating capacity will exceed 100 MW. In that time, the land area supporting hydrothermal geothermal energy heating will grow to 870 million square meters, while the area of shallow geothermal energy heating and cooling will reach 1.21 billion square meters.
