As EDF moves onto a slightly firmer financial foundation with the recovery in output from its domestic nuclear fleet, the French state-owned nuclear giant continues to struggle to advance multiple newbuild projects in France and the UK. EDF has three EPRs under construction, and is planning for two more in addition to a fleet of six to 14 EPR2 reactors in France, but it remains unclear how the required capital costs across all these projects will be accounted for, even if EDF is now out of the red.
