Honeywell's Metropolis uranium conversion plant in Illinois has restarted UF6 production, according to a Jul. 11 letter to customers seen by Energy Intelligence. “Over the past few days the company has filled multiple 48Y cylinders which will soon be transported” and looks forward to providing UF6 “for decades to come,” reads the letter. The largely un-publicized restart comes after months of delays and recent UF6 spills. The conversion market "is still going to be pretty tight going forward, but it's good news," said one industry source.
