Abu Dhabi-based Masdar is a green energy pioneer, active in 40 countries, with a target to reach 100 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Since 2008, the UK has been an important market for Masdar, notably in offshore wind, floating wind, battery storage and green hydrogen. Now Masdar is looking to strengthen ties even further with the UK and is gearing up for a huge low-carbon push. Energy Intelligence recently caught up with Husain al-Meer, head of Masdar's global offshore wind and UK business development unit, to discuss Masdar's growth plans for the UK and Northwest Europe.
