India state-run refiners Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum agreed to buy eight million gallons of biodiesel from Universal Biofuels. The supplier is the Indian subsidiary of Cupertino, California-based Aemetis, a renewable fuels and biochemicals company. Universal Biofuels has delivered $27 million worth of shipments of the contracted $34 million, the company said. The Indian refiners are expected to increase their purchases under a new biodiesel supply tender for deliveries in the July-September quarter. Universal is scaling up operational capacity at its 50 million gallon/yr plant to meet upcoming tender requirements.
