United Kingdom: Vendors Eager for 'Clarity' on SMR Competition

A promised UK government-backed competition to select two “leading” small modular reactor (SMR) technologies that Whitehall will “co-fund” through development is raising more questions than answers for prospective vendors. The government aims to select technologies this fall, but has provided no detail on funding amounts or what help the government might provide when it comes to siting or regulation, leaving SMR vendors to publicly plead for clarity, reasonable timelines and strong support.
