LNG Offtakers Seek Answers to Calcasieu Pass Delay

Long-term contractual offtakers of the Calcasieu Pass LNG export plant in the US are unlikely to succeed in their legal actions against developer Venture Global over the delayed commercial start of the facility, experts tell Energy Intelligence. Contractual buyers may find themselves in a rather weak legal position if they want to seek remedies over the plant’s extended commissioning period, which has lasted about four times longer than the industry norm and has delayed the start of deliveries of cargoes to long-term contractual offtakers.
