US carrier United Airlines and oil giants Saudi Aramco and Italy's Eni are among those investing £18 million ($22.7 million) in UK sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) start-up OXCCU's new power-to-liquids technology. OXCCU says its trademarked Oxefuel SAF is created by combining captured carbon dioxide and renewably-sourced green hydrogen through a novel iron-based catalyst at a much lower cost than other more complicated power-to-liquids (PTL) methods. The technology essentially consolidates the current two-step Reverse Water Gas Shift and Fischer-Tropsch reaction used in other PTL or efuels production into a one-step catalytic conversion.
