Europe has survived the winter season after a precarious year where energy security challenges came to the fore. As the spring injection season begins, the region is indeed in a good position: Underground gas storage levels across the bloc are over 55% full, and front-month Dutch TTF prices have been testing the price floor of €40 per megawatt hour ($12.80 per million Btu). But as has been warned repeatedly, the comfortable short-term situation should not breed complacency, and a tricky and expensive winter season is always around the corner.
