After years of hemorrhaging shareholders over meager returns and poor environmental performance, US E&Ps are turning the tide. The US energy sector’s share of the S&P 500 is hovering around 5% compared to historic lows of under 3% just a few years ago. But E&Ps still have some way to go if they are to convince investors they remain an attractive proposition for the long haul.
