Carbon removal technologies are seeing "growth across the board" and "record-breaking investments," says the executive director of the US-based Carbon Business Council, Ben Rubin. Much of this is due to a supportive policy environment, Rubin tells Energy Intelligence in an interview, but policies can be improved further to create a more level playing field. That's because a wide variety of carbon management approaches are needed to reach the "gigaton scale" of removals recommended by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and other scientific bodies to decarbonize the global economy. The Carbon Business Council represents 75 member companies working on multiple approaches to carbon management.
