European energy company TotalEnergies is actively and strategically expanding its greener molecules business, mirroring its growth in green electricity. Olivier Guerrini, vice president of the biogas business unit of TotalEnergies Gas Renewable and Power, discussed the expansion of the company's biogas and biomethane unit with Energy Intelligence — including the recent acquisition of Poland's biggest biogas player. TotalEnergies has set a target of producing 2 terawatt hours per year of biogas and biomethane by 2025 and more than 20 TWh/year by 2030 worldwide. Given the size of the existing business, some 1.1 TWh including the Polish volumes, that is a huge endeavor.
