China’s flight numbers and jet fuel demand are taking off, providing a blast of momentum for the last missing link to the global aviation recovery. Current estimates for the rise this year in Chinese jet demand from 2022 span a wide range between 44% and 78%, underscoring vast uncertainties about its path to post-pandemic recovery. If its economic rebound continues unabated, Chinese jet usage could reach a record-high 1 million barrels per day by 2024, some estimates show.
