The departure of leading Western oil-field services (OFS) companies from Russia in 2022 following the war in Ukraine has so far had a minor impact on the country’s services sector, but a fall in the industry's fortunes is still expected to follow. The extent of the decline will depend on how successfully Russian companies are able to adapt to fill the gap left by the Western exodus. At the same time, the upheaval has created new opportunities for Russian players, including those who inherited foreign OFS businesses.
