Rather than pursuing a traditional engineering, procurement and construction model for the newbuild, Ontario Power Generation (OPG) CEO Ken Hartwick told a Jan. 27 press event that the planners hope to demonstrate "a new way to structure a collaboration agreement." Under this scheme, "OPG as the license-holder will maintain overall responsibility and oversight for the project, and specific responsibility for commissioning, operator training, indigenous and stakeholder engagement," said OPG executive Brenda McDonald. Meanwhile BWRX-300 developer GE-Hitachi will provide the "design, major procurement components, procurement, and engineering," architect-engineer SNC-Lavalin will provide "design, engineering and procurement support", and constructor Aecon will provide "construction management and execution."
