Jet fuel demand in a group of representative countries settled onto a 3.1 million b/d plateau in October with the approach of winter. Most of the decline from September levels occurred in the industrialized countries. Strike action at airports and refineries pulled French fuel usage down below 100,000 b/d — a decline of nearly 30% from the prior month. Japanese demand fell by 10% and Italian usage receded by 11%. Germany was the only country in Europe to show a gain.
