Americas: US Refiners Go Down Just as Europe's Demand Goes Up

Downstream outages and impending maintenance are crimping supplies of refined products in the Americas. Severe and unseasonable weather have also served to blunt demand for certain fuels, helping to muffle the market impacts so far. But as the European Union’s embargo on Russian products draws nearer, the lack of refinery throughputs could become more acutely felt as Europe’s reliance on other suppliers of fuel, including the US, tightens the market in the Americas.
