The addition of more long-haul flights lifted fuel usage to 158,000 b/d in August, with bonded fuel accounting for 83,000 b/d of that volume. By November the air travel market was just 12% below pre-Covid-19 levels in 2019, according to latest data from the International Air Transport Association. Japanese refiners boosted jet output to 252,000 b/d to meet the uptick in demand.
