Chile is looking to become a major green hydrogen producer, targeting some $5 billion of investment by 2025, its energy minister told Energy Intelligence. Its energy mix is also shifting rapidly away from fossil fuels. “Just last week, the amount of energy injected during the year coming from solar and wind surpassed the amount generated by coal for the first time,” Diego Pardow Lorenzo said on the sidelines of last week’s COP27 summit. “We have a zero-coal 2040 target, and we are thinking of bringing that forward,” he added.
