Mozambique has become Africa’s newest LNG exporter as the 3.4 million ton per year Eni-operated Coral South floating LNG (FLNG) project made its debut shipment this week. This is a landmark moment for the East African nation, which is seeking to become Africa’s largest LNG exporter, with three projects with an export capacity of over 31 million tons/yr. However, security problems and financing issues dogging the development of other LNG projects in the country could set its aspirations back.
