The government cash is essential, private sector players say, with many project developers telling Energy Intelligence they cannot move their projects forward without government subsidies. Specifically, Brussels says some €5.2 billion ($5.1 billion) can be distributed via state-aid funds to 35 hydrogen infrastructure and hydrogen value chain projects in 13 member states. Brussels says the government funding should unlock an additional €7 billion from the private sector.
