Brussels Wants a New European Gas Benchmark

The EU is taking aim at replacing the Dutch TTF natural gas hub as Europe’s price benchmark in response to the ongoing energy crisis. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in the EU’s State of the Union speech last week that Brussels will look into establishing a “more representative benchmark” for Europe as the TTF “has not adapted” to a changing market that is importing increasing volumes of LNG.
