Price-Sensitive Asian Buyers Return as Spot Prices Fall

Northeast Asia's spot LNG prices dropped by $23 week on week to $42 per million Btu, according to World Gas Intelligence assessments for deliveries four to eight weeks ahead. Spot prices in Southwest Europe continued to decrease, falling by $10.65 to $37.75/MMBtu. The UK National Balancing Point (NBP) day-ahead price was assessed $10.42 higher at $38.03/MMBtu, while the October front-month NBP ICE contract was down $12.67 at $40.59/MMBtu. Netbacks for Mideast sellers in Asia were about $4.17/MMBtu higher than in Southwest Europe, while UK/Belgian netbacks were $4.11/MMBtu lower than in Asia.
