Northeast Asian countries are ramping up efforts to secure cargoes for winter on fears that Russia will curb supply and further tighten an already-imbalanced global market. Over the past few weeks Taiwan’s CPC, South Korea Kogas, and Japanese firms Kansai Electric and Jera have been in the market. Kogas is believed to have bought over a dozen cargoes for October to March delivery while Kansai Electric is understood to have purchased cargoes for the last quarter of 2022 up until February 2023.
