August gas futures slipped 8.9¢ Thursday to $6.60 per million Btu after the contract lose early gains in the wake of storage data that mirrored analysts’ expectations in a Reuters survey. That was good news for bears as the bullish miss some expected could have sent the prompt month above $7/MMBtu as futures were up 2.5% prior to the report. The 12-month strip fell 5.9¢ to $5.876; the 2023 strip was off 4.2¢ to $5.143 (Futures contracts).
