Australia Seeks Long-Term Fix to East Coast Gas Shortfall

Australia’s recently elected Labor government is reviewing a range of energy policies to guarantee natural gas supply to eastern states that experienced a severe power crunch in June. The government has ruled out introducing a country-wide gas reservation policy such as was implemented in the state of Western Australia. But Canberra renewed its support for the development of new gas resources along with renewables as it aims to shift away from coal.
