The old game is over, Gazprom boss Alexei Miller said last week in announcing a “paradigm shift” in Russian gas trade with Europe. In essence, he said the Kremlin intends to use its energy resources as a weapon in relations with the “unfriendly” West — something of which Moscow had long been accused but had until now always denied.
