The low-carbon hydrogen sector is enjoying a moment in the spotlight in light of recent high-profile megaproject announcements from BP and TotalEnergies. BP has taken a 40.5% stake in the $36 billion Asian Renewable Energy Hub project in Australia, with 26 gigawatts of wind and solar photovoltaic capacity eventually producing 1.6 million tons of green hydrogen or 9 million tons of green ammonia per year at full capacity. Total took a 25% stake in Adani New Industries, which will use up to 30 GW of wind and solar in India to produce 1 million tons/yr of green hydrogen by 2030, a potentially $50 billion project.
