  • Private E&P companies have led the drilling recovery in the US shale patch as publics have largely kept promises to investors to rein in growth.
  • However, private operators face the same supply-chain issues the publics do, and are unlikely to ramp up growth quickly.
  • Private operators played big roles in three big deals announced last week and the trend is expected to continue.
