Save for later Print Download Share LinkedIn Twitter Europe's network manager Eurocontrol is calling on the region's aviation industry to modernize its fleet and ramp up use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in order to dramatically cut the cost of decarbonization. Without such affirmative action, Eurocontrol has calculated that the EU’s new “Fit for 55” package to cut the bloc's carbon emissions by 55% from 1990 levels by 2030 could cost airlines €62 billion ($64.7 billion) between now and the end of the decade.
