French energy major TotalEnergies solidifed an ambitious target last year to reach 100 gigawatts of gross operational renewable capacity by 2030, up from 10.7 GW at end-March, with an emphasis on "fast-growing" renewables such as solar photovoltaics (PV), onshore and offshore wind. Until 2020, much of that growth had been targeted within Europe. But since then, TotalEnergies has been chasing projects in markets offering high-growth demand such as India, the US and Qatar, while pursuing low-cost renewable generation — possibly for green hydrogen production — in places like Chile, or multienergy projects in countries such as Iraq.
