Multiple episodes in the last few weeks of electric scooters burning in flames are undermining India’s push for electric mobility and already influencing consumer perceptions. Before the incidents — which have caused injuries and even deaths — the electric push in the world's third-largest oil-consuming nation had been seeing fast-paced growth amid record-high diesel and gasoline prices and policy incentives.
