"LNG is on everybody's mind these days," Chevron CEO Mike Wirth said on the US major's first-quarter earnings call last week. "It's important to meeting Europe's needs. It's important to delivering a lower-carbon energy system globally." Gazprom's decision to turn off the gas taps to Poland and Bulgaria simply underscores the superchilled fuel's importance as the race to find alternatives to Russian piped gas speeds up — although high prices could throw up some lofty hurdles.
