Gazprom Keeps EU Exports But Loses German Asset

Pipeline gas again escaped the latest EU sanctions package against Russia announced this week, but Berlin’s takeover of Gazprom’s European assets brings Moscow closer to a wider divorce with the West. Russian LNG, which faces numerous problems following the invasion of Ukraine, looks to have avoided further complications from this week’s port ban on Russian vessels thanks to an exception being made for energy cargoes.
