For oil and gas companies, it's easy to make the argument for curbing methane emissions, but it's trickier in practice because of difficulties in determining exactly where leaks originate. This is starting to change with new technologies that can both measure and pinpoint leaks. A small but busy industry has sprung up to help operators get a handle on their methane emissions in what some have dubbed the “measurement economy.”
