As EU energy supremos scour the globe for potential new sources of non-Russian gas, one region catching their attention is East Africa, home to a number of planned LNG projects underpinned by giant proven deepwater reserves. But time is not on Europe's side, and decision-makers know they face stiff competition from gas-hungry markets in Asia, especially China and India.
