The Belgian government's Mar. 18 decision to extend the lifetime of its two youngest power reactors by a decade is one of the clearest indications of the impact the European energy crisis has had following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. An extended phaseout isn't yet a sure thing, however, and could see the reactors shut down before being allowed to run for another 10 years.
