UAE Views Europe as Major Hydrogen Offtaker

The United Arab Emirates is betting on Europe becoming the first major global offtaker of hydrogen, as the hydrocarbon-rich Mideast Gulf state positions itself to become a key supplier in coming years. “A few years ago, I was skeptical about hydrogen, its role and the need to decarbonize. Now I strongly believe it will play an important role in the road toward carbon neutrality,” Assistant Undersecretary at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure Yousif Ahmed al-Ali told the World Hydrogen MENA conference in Dubai last week.
