The two key political parties in the southern state of Tamil Nadu are siding with the protesters, but so far their objections appear to have fallen on deaf ears. Work on the final two units of the six-unit (6,000 megawatt) VVER plant is under way and NPCIL's plans for away-from-reactor (AFR) storage at the site, although delayed by several years, are proceeding.
