March gas futures climbed 11.1¢ Tuesday to $4.306 per million Btu as winter keeps its grip on major eastern US markets. The latest cold blast is moving across the Upper Midwest into the Northeast, edging heating demand higher than had been expected when the contract fell into the $3.90s/MMBtu last weekend. The contract has gained 36.5¢ in the past two sessions. The 12-month strip rose 7.6¢ to $4.421; the 2023 calendar strip was up 2.4¢ at $3.732 (Futures contracts).
