March gas futures shot up 75¢, or 1`5%, on Wednesday to end the session at $5.501 per million Btu. The extraordinary jump wasn’t isolated to the last winter 2022 contract; the entire 12-month strip now sports $5 handles after each contract gained 41¢-47¢. The 12-month strip rose 46.8¢ to $5.192; the 2023 calendar strip was up 15.2¢ to $3.92 (Futures contracts).
