Europe could achieve energy self-sufficiency just with renewables, according to Enel Green Power’s boss Salvatore Bernabei. To reach that goal where Europe would not need to import green hydrogen or derived molecules, new capacity should grow twice as fast as last year over 2022-30, and three times as fast over 2030-50. As unrealistic as it may look, history shows that "we constantly underestimate whatever happens in terms of renewable capacity growth and cost decline."
