Efforts to decarbonize maritime shipping, which accounts for around 3% of global carbon emissions, have thus far lagged behind other sectors. Yet this is slowly starting to change as the world sharpens its focus on wider net-zero targets. Pressure is building from the market and regulators, with both the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the EU working on new measures this year. This is prompting industry to step up efforts.
