Gazprom kicked off 2022 with a sharp drop in gas exports to Europe, still grappling with high energy prices. With around 100,000 Russian troops massed on Ukraine's northern and eastern borders, geopolitical tensions do not suggest a sudden recovery — and have even sparked fears of a halt in shipments if Russia invades Ukraine.
