China EV Sales Surpass 3.5 Million

More than 3.5 million electric vehicles (including all-electric, plug-in hybrid and fuel-cell models) were sold in China during 2021 for a stunning year-on-year increase of over 150% from the 2020 figure of 1.37 million units. EV penetration as a percentage of total national auto sales surged to an annual average of 13.4%, from just 5.4% in 2020, according to latest data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
